Church of John the Baptist

The first church was founded on this location before 1325. Later, the Lubrańskis brought received city rights for Lubraniec from Sigismund I in 1509 or 1512. The monks were there until 1818. After significant destruction during the Swedish wars, the convent rebuilt and even enlarged the Lubraniec church in 1689.

Since 1818, the parish has been cared for by parish priests from the diocesan clergy. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was decided to replace the old church with a new temple, using part of the walls of the previous one, a new temple was built, consecrated on July 16, 1909 by Bishop Stanisław Zdzitowiecki.

It is a brick church in the neo-Gothic style, roofed with roof tiles. Inside, on the left wall, there is an erection plaque from 1497 made of sandstone with images of the founders of the previous church.

  • Polychrome from 1932, recently renovated.
  • Stained glass windows from 1906.
  • Baptismal font carved in wood from the 16th century.
  • Wooden sculpture of the Mother of God with Child from the 15th century.
  • Paintings of St. Joseph with Child from the 17th century.
  • In the sacristy, a painting on canvas: Ecce homo from the 17th century.
